About/Contact— Estancia Times Documentary
We document the stories Northern Iloilo forgets to write down.
Estancia Times Documentary is an independent research blog covering the history, culture, economy, and everyday life of Estancia, Batad, and the 5th District of Iloilo. No clickbait. No pay-to-post. Just deep dives into the people and places that shaped this corner of Panay.
Why this blog exists
Too much of our local history lives in photocopied memoirs, old municipal halls, and lolo/lola stories that disappear when they do. I started this site to gather those fragments — from Ati roots and Spanish-era ports to cornhusk crafts and NISU research — and put them where anyone can read them.
What you’ll find here
Town histories: Like From Corn Capital to Heritage Hub: The Story of Batad
Economic snapshots: Corn farms, fishing grounds, cornhusk livelihood, poverty data — with actual COA and PSA receipts
Culture & education: Fiestas, NISU Batad, oral traditions, and the people keeping them alive
Documentary posts: Photo essays, timelines, and explainers on how our towns got here
Who’s behind this
Written and researched by Mark Morales, based in Estancia, Western Visayas. -A local who got tired of Googling our towns and finding nothing.

We do not accept sponsored posts, political endorsements, or paid links.
Not because we’re rich — trust me, if someone offered to buy us, I’d be writing this from a beach house 😂
We do it for the stories. Accuracy matters, so if you spot an error, send sources and we’ll correct it.
