I couldn't sleep, so I walked to the Feeder Port at 3:15am. The first thing I saw wasn't the boats — it was the light from the coffee stall. It's open 24/7.

There are two small stalls. One sells barako coffee for ₱20, the other has hot pandesal and noodles. Manang Lita, who runs the coffee, told me she's been here 10 years. "Fishermen, tourists, students — everyone stops for coffee before the first boat," she said.

Next to me were three pumpboat crew waiting for their 4am trip to Gigantes. Across the table was a student coming from her shift at Gaisano Grand Estancia on E. Reyes Avenue. She said the mall closes late, and the port coffee is cheaper than a taxi home.

That's what I love about Estancia. We have a mall now, but we still have this. At 3am, the port isn't quiet — it's a small community. The crews share stories, the vendors know everyone's name, and for ₱25 you get coffee and conversation.

Yes, we're known as the 'Alaska of the Philippines' because of the fishing port, and our town is growing — 54,882 people as of the last census. We sit close to the rich fishing grounds near Carles, which is why the port is busy day and night.

People always ask what to do in Estancia. My answer is simple: come here at 3am. Order coffee. Watch the boats load ice. You'll understand the town better than any beach photo.

My total last night: Coffee ₱20, pandesal ₱5, tricycle home ₱20. ₱45 for the best people-watching in northern Iloilo.
